Dr. Lu Xiong, ASA

Lu Xiong is an assistant professor in actuarial science at the department of mathematical sciences, and afaculty member of the computational and data science Ph.D. program at Middle Tennessee State University. He’s also a credentialed actuary who earned an associate membership of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) in 2021. His research interests are business data analytics, actuarial science, and computational science.

Dr. Don Hong

Dr. Hong received his Ph.D. in Applied and Computational Math from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 1993. Before he joined MTSU in 2005, he has taught courses in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics at TAMU, the University of Texas at Austin, East Tennessee State University (ETSU), and Vanderbilt University. He has worked as an actuary intern at the Texas Department of Insurance during 1995-1996. Dr. Hong has also received job offers from AFLAC as an actuary in 2001, as well as from the University of St. Thomas as a professor of actuarial science in 2002. Dr. Hong was the Director of Actuarial Mathematics Program ETSU from 1997-2005. His research interests include Actuarial Science and Computational Statistics, Approximation Theory and Splines, Biomathematics, and Wavelets with Applications.
